On Oct. 4 Brazil Federal Police chief André Rodrigues said the force is
investigating possible U.S. interference in the country's election. The Office
of the Attorney General on Oct. 1 asked the Federal Police and the Prosecutor
General's Office to probe a Guardian report (Sept. 30) alleging the U.S.
government provided $1 million to fund civil groups campaigning against the
Supreme Federal Court (STF), accused of "judicial overreach" and "censorship".
Attorney General Jorge Messias noted Brazilian law prohibits foreign entities or
governments from funding or controlling domestic political groups.
