Yemen government forces said on the 5th that, shortly after the Presidential
Leadership Council launched the Yemen Dawn operation, they have seized control
of the Bab al-Mandeb international shipping lane. Spokesman Majid Nuzaily said
forces used a pincer maneuver to overrun Houthi positions, taking the strait and
Dhubab airport in Taiz province, cutting the Dhubab–Mocha road, and trapping
several hundred Houthi fighters in the Dhubab area; the operation is ongoing.
