South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said the government plans to launch a
4.7 tln won (about $3.5 bln) advanced AI model development project from March
2027. The ministry said a lead developer will be selected by open tender after
parliament approves the 2027 budget in December, with the winner possibly
announced as early as February. The government intends to combine state equity
investment with private capital and to concentrate compute chips, data and
talent into the programme. The project will be open to single firms, corporate
consortia and special-purpose vehicles, and aims to let startups, corporates,
universities and researchers play leading roles.
