Guangdong’s 21 cities ran concentrated holiday promotions Oct. 1-4, deploying
over 1.0 bln yuan in subsidy funds, issuing dining, cultural-tourism and
shopping-district coupons and staging more than 660 events, the provincial
commerce department said. Ministry of Commerce monitoring shows Oct. 1-3 retail
sales rose 7.5% YoY and catering revenue rose 6.7% YoY; combined national and
provincial subsidies boosted consumption by nearly 4.4 bln yuan over the three
days. Trade-in program reimbursements totaled 237 mln yuan (+301.8% YoY),
driving 2.159 bln yuan of sales (+148.8% YoY). A cluster of flagship malls
opened during the holiday, including Guangzhou MixC at Bai’etang, Julongwan
Taikoo Li and Foshan MixC, adding retail capacity in the Greater Bay Area.
