China's Ministry of Water Resources said it will step up efforts to ensure this
year’s start of 40 major water projects and completion of 1 tln yuan of
water-construction investment. January–September: 41,400 water projects were
underway, 28 major projects were newly started—exceeding last year’s full-year
starts—and water-construction investment reached 795 bln yuan; construction
works absorbed 2.01 mln jobs. Li Ming, director of the ministry’s Planning and
Programming Department, said authorities will expedite project preparatory work,
broaden financing channels and accelerate construction to maintain a high level
of water investment.
