Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Murphy said on the 6th that during an earlier visit to Qatar the Pentagon barred him from entering a key U.S. military base, an action he said signals the U.S. government is trying to conceal the costs of a war with Iran. Murphy, in Riyadh as the second stop on his Middle East trip, said the visit convinced him the administration is making "unprecedented" and "unconstitutional" efforts to hide the costs and impact of conflict with Iran from Congress and the public.
