Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi said the government stands ready to reassess
spending and revenue plans if Japanese government bond (JGB) yields move
unexpectedly. She is seeking parliamentary backing to temporarily cut the food
sales tax. She added that if global economic disruption significantly affects
Japan’s economy, the government would deploy reserve funds flexibly. She
declined to comment on specific exchange-rate or yield levels.
