Israeli police have opened an investigation into two senior civil aviation
safety officials at the Ministry of Transport on suspicion of conflicts of
interest and lapses in aviation safety oversight. The officials named are Devir
Rubinstein, head of the ministry’s Aviation Safety Operations Center, and Avri
Cohen, the ministry’s safety director. The probe follows an incident on a
Dubai-based carrier flight to Tel Aviv in which a pilot was attacked, an episode
that exposed related security gaps.
