UK wind generation in September reached 6.62 TWh, a September record and up 4%
YoY, cutting gas-fired output to the lowest September level on record. Wholesale
power prices remain roughly double year-ago levels as higher energy costs tied
to the Iran conflict offset the wind-driven demand reduction. The rise in wind
supports the UK's move toward a largely decarbonised power system by 2030, but
the market remains highly exposed to gas-price swings: even with a smaller gas
share, gas frequently sets marginal prices during key daily hours.
