OpenAI announced on the 7th (local time) it has launched GPT-6 with an Intelligent UI for global Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users and will open GPT-6 to free and Go users from tomorrow. Paid tiers will be served by GPT-6 Sol; the free and Go tiers will run on GPT-6 Luna; both variants are optimized for everyday conversation. The update applies to ChatGPT's Chat tab; models used by Work and Codex are unchanged.

Hungary's central bank minutes showed the Sept 22 decision to hold the policy rate at 5.5% was unanimous.

Oct. 7 marks three years since the latest Hamas-Israel conflict began. Although a first-phase Gaza ceasefire agreement took effect in Oct. 2025, Israeli forces have continued air strikes on the Gaza Strip. Gaza health authorities report more than 74,000 killed and over 175,000 injured since the outbreak of hostilities. The UN says most of Gaza is in ruins, large-scale displacement persists, and the Palestinian economy and public finances are under severe strain; reconstruction and recovery needs are estimated at about $70 billion.
