Hong Kong stocks opened lower and extended losses into midday; HSI was down
0.69% and the Hang Seng Tech Index down 1.93% at noon. Large-cap internet names
underperformed: Baidu (09888.HK) -2.6%, Tencent (00700.HK) -1.0%, with Alibaba
(09988.HK), NetEase-S (09999.HK) and Xiaomi Group (01810.HK) also weaker; JD.com
(09618.HK) rose against the trend. PCB, chip/semiconductor and
optical-communications sectors plunged; mobile-phone supply-chain, biotech and
PV stocks were broadly lower. Coal and oil energy shares outperformed, while
property developers and household-appliance stocks were generally higher.
