Foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China views trade with Europe as
mutually beneficial but noted European countries are pursuing stronger
protective measures. On what steps China might take to allay EU concerns she
referred queries to the relevant Chinese departments. As a principle, Mao said
China hopes the EU will meet it halfway and resolve mutual concerns through
dialogue and consultation to support healthy, stable China‑EU economic and trade
relations, which she said serves both sides' interests.
