A cybersecurity firm recently reported an unverified actor attacked South Korean
financial institutions, allegedly using Chinese-developed AI tools and
Chinese-language commands and possibly operating from Guangdong. China’s Foreign
Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said she was not aware of the specifics. She
reiterated that China opposes and, under law, combats hacking and rejects
politically motivated disinformation, and said AI profoundly affects
cybersecurity; she called for stronger international cooperation and new global
rules to safeguard cyberspace.
