Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told parliament she believes an active,
responsible fiscal policy to boost Japan’s global competitiveness — including
the planned tax cuts she defended — will ultimately help maintain market
confidence in the yen, rejecting concerns the measures could weaken the
currency.
