Honda has decided to procure complete vehicles from Mitsubishi Motors under an
OEM arrangement, the Nikkei reports — the first time in roughly 30 years Honda
will buy cars from another automaker. The move, aimed at boosting
competitiveness amid intensifying market pressure, deepens Honda’s cooperation
with partners Nissan and Mitsubishi after talks that began in August 2024.
Mitsubishi will build its L200 Triton pickup in Thailand and rebadge it as a
Honda for sale in Southeast Asian markets from 2028 and beyond.
