On Oct. 9 China's wind equipment sector tumbled into the lunch session and
closed sharply lower: Dajin Heavy Industry and Tianshun Wind Energy hit the
daily limit; Haili Wind Power, Weili Transmission, Jinlei Co. and Luozhou Co.
fell more than 5%. Market chatter claimed the European Commission had opened
anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into wind turbine towers and key
structural components originating from China. Several listed wind firms called
the reports false and staff said they had received no notice; no corresponding
announcement was found on the European Commission website.
