Hainan Provincial Meteorological Bureau at 17:00 extended a level-4 heavy-rain
warning. In the past 24 hours many townships in Qiongzhong, Qionghai, Tunchang
and Wanning recorded over 150 mm of rain. Forecast for 09 17:00–10 08:00: parts
of Qiongzhong, Qionghai and Wanning expected to see 50–100 mm. Red warnings
remain active for Lingshui, Qionghai, Qiongzhong and Wanning; orange warnings
for Sanya, Baoting and Tunchang. Guangpo Town in Lingshui recorded 249.8 mm in
24 hours. At 19:00 on the 9th Chenxiangwan reservoir in Wanning opened its
spillway, releasing 30–300 m3/s; discharge will be adjusted based on inflow and
rainfall. Authorities said downstream river levels will rise significantly and
advised residents and visitors to avoid river channels, flood-discharge routes
and flood-prone areas; fishing, wading and river works are prohibited.
