Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy said hours earlier it struck a large LPG tanker, NV Sunshine, while the vessel was attempting to transit what the IRGC described as an 'illegal route' through the southern Strait of Hormuz; the ship was reported to have caught fire. The IRGC said it is responsible for managing the strait, will oppose what it described as 'aggressive forces' operating in the area, and blamed the US military for escalating regional maritime tensions.
