Beijing, Oct 10 — At a national agricultural science work meeting the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said it will accelerate construction of agricultural science and technology innovation platforms and plan a batch of major agricultural research infrastructure, pilot-scale and proof-of-concept platforms. The ministry urged strengthening technology promotion and integration, building an agricultural extension system and using diversified social technical service providers to close the 'last mile' of technology adoption. It said it will leverage national agricultural high-tech industry demonstration zones, deepen international scientific cooperation and accelerate talent development, prioritising strategic scientists, leading figures, industry technical staff and young researchers to sustain the innovation pipeline.

Witnesses reported a loud blast at Riyadh airport; Saudi authorities have not commented on the incident.
