Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) plans to list live cattle and lean hog futures,
targeting a Dec. 7 launch and year‑end availability, as a direct challenge to
CME Group. ICE will offer a physically deliverable live cattle contract plus
three cash‑settled cattle and hog price contracts; all products remain subject
to regulatory review. The announcement comes as CME, the largest US futures
exchange, migrates parts of its order‑matching engine to Google Cloud. ICE
futures market SVP Trabue Bland said the move responds to substantial client
demand for a credible alternative in a market long dominated by a single
exchange.
