CHINA and Botswana elevated bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic
cooperative partnership. CHINA outlined four priorities for China–Botswana and
China–Africa mining cooperation: uphold that African resources belong to Africa
and offer Chinese experience to help African states design mining development
plans; pursue mutually beneficial cooperation by encouraging Chinese firms to
boost operating capacity and transfer green technologies suited to African needs
to advance South–South mining cooperation; prioritize high‑quality development
by shifting cooperation toward downstream value addition and exploring
affordable, sustainable innovative financing to support African modernization;
and maintain a fair, open environment, rejecting use of African resources as
tools of geopolitical competition while seeking to improve conditions for
enterprise investment.
