Iraq’s oil ministry says exports have rebounded to about 2.7mln bpd despite shipping difficulties from the Strait of Hormuz, up from roughly 200k bpd in May last year. Most flows move via the southern route; northern exports are around 300k bpd. The ministry plans further increases via both southern and northern corridors. It said the Iraq–Turkey pipeline’s target export capacity is about 700k bpd; the pipeline’s design capacity is 1.5mln bpd and a bilateral agreement sets a minimum of 750k bpd. Current throughput is roughly 300k bpd and the government aims to raise it to 750k bpd to expand market access.

Markets broadly expect US headline CPI to rise notably in September while core CPI ex food and energy is forecast to slow MoM, reducing urgency for a Fed hike in October. The Fed raised rates last month and signalled further increases, but weak September jobs and July–August PCE prints below expectations have sharply cooled odds of an October move. Scott Anderson, BMO Capital Markets' chief US economist, says a September core CPI MoM print around 0.2% would be sufficient to support a Fed pause in October, but he warned the debate over whether additional hikes will be needed is not over.
