IMF chief GEORGIEVA said global economic resilience after successive shocks
should not be taken for granted, warning the outlook remains highly uncertain
with material vulnerabilities and downside risks; caution will frame the IMF’s
annual policy agenda. The IMF urged policymakers to strengthen fiscal and
monetary frameworks where possible to protect macroeconomic and financial
stability. It flagged persistent supply‑chain strains as a risk for further
energy and food price rises and warned El Niño could amplify commodity and
agricultural disruption. Rising developed‑market sovereign yields are increasing
fiscal pressures and tightening financing conditions for emerging and developing
economies. The IMF also identified the AI investment boom as an additional risk:
a reversal could compress investment activity and have broader economic
spillovers.
