Oct 14, Shenyang — Liaoning party secretary Xu Kunlin and governor Wang Xinwei
met BMW chairman Nie Kewei. BMW said it is accelerating electrification and
digitalisation and will treat the Shenyang plant as a strategic hub for local
R&D, production and tech innovation. BMW plans to deepen investment in Liaoning,
speed the introduction of more new‑generation models and technologies, expand
whole‑vehicle exports from the Shenyang base, and localize additional R&D,
testing and development functions. BMW’s sixth‑generation battery project has
achieved full localization of core components, and new‑generation models are
slated for localized mass production in Shenyang. Officials and BMW also agreed
to expand supply‑chain cooperation and attract more suppliers and partners to
Liaoning.
