Regulators have issued a notice to inspect and rectify 'quick-return' insurance
products sold through the bancassurance channel, requiring life-insurance legal
entities to conduct self-examinations and strictly implement reporting alignment
between insurers and banks. The notice flags products with 3-year premium
payment periods and 6-year coverage—ordinary and participating endowment
policies—that deliberately compressed actuarial expense assumptions and returned
cash value quickly to boost reported scale, creating a risk of treating
long-duration insurance as short-term business.
