A long-idled refinery near Yangon resumed commercial operations on Wednesday for
the first time in nearly a decade, part of Myanmar’s drive to reduce imports of
gasoline and jet fuel. The Danlin refinery’s first phase is now online; a second
phase is scheduled for completion in 2028. At full capacity the plant will
process more than 60,000 barrels per day, meeting roughly half of Myanmar’s
domestic fuel demand. President Min Aung Hlaing said securing adequate crude
supply should be a priority.
