Thu Lan Nguyen, analyst at Deutsche Bank, said recent UK data — with August GDP
beating expectations for a fourth consecutive month — has increased market
pricing for Bank of England tightening by creating scope for further rate rises
and easing pressure on the UK chancellor ahead of the Oct. 28 budget. The
chancellor remains committed to deficit reduction in that budget. Nguyen warned:
"Given recent years' experience, the potential risks in the UK's fiscal plans
should not be underestimated."
