Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the $1,999 iPhone Duo, sold out within minutes of
preorders opening on Friday and now shows estimated ship dates in December or
later. Apple’s online store lists delays across both colors and all capacities
(256GB–2TB); some customers who preselected color and storage still saw later
delivery windows. Retail opening inventory also sold out almost instantly. The
rapid extension of shipping times points to strong demand and materially
constrained supply, which could leave the device scarce on its Oct. 23 launch
and in the weeks after. Market research firm Counterpoint Research last month
forecast about 6 million iPhone Duo sales for this year.
