Construction has begun at Shengli Oilfield on China’s first million-ton-scale
low-concentration CO2 capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) full-chain
demonstration project. Once completed it will capture low-concentration flue gas
from coal-fired power plants and route all CO2 to the oilfield for enhanced oil
recovery (EOR) and permanent storage, offering a test case for large-scale
decarbonization of coal power.
