At the Global Security Forum in Doha, Qatar Deputy Prime Minister Al Thani said
Qatar will soon announce a new regional defense partnership to cooperate with
neighbors on a fresh defense initiative. He said Qatar has recently reviewed its
defense posture with emphasis on air defence, counter-UAS measures, cyber
security and water-security. Al Thani urged stronger GCC cooperation, noting
members have agreed on basic principles while maintaining independent foreign
policies. He added US collaboration has bolstered Gulf defenses, saying
expertise sharing and decades of military investment enabled the successful
interception of over 90% of attacks during conflicts.
