At the opening of the 2026 Financial Street Forum in Beijing this afternoon, Ding Xiangqun, head of the National Financial Supervision and Administration, said China's banking and insurance sectors are running broadly stable, large institutions remain prudently managed, and reforms of small- and mid-sized institutions are proceeding in an orderly way with overall risks controllable. He said the regulator, working with other authorities, is intensifying crackdowns on illegal financial activity, strengthening oversight of cross-regional, cross-department and new-business/new-product financial activity, and will, in accordance with law, bring all financial activity under regulatory coverage, aiming for full coverage with no exceptions.
