LME positions report for the week to Oct 16, 2026 — investment funds' net long in LME copper was 33,600 lots, down 7,075 lots week-on-week; gross longs fell 8,531 lots and shorts fell 1,456 lots. Commercial participants' net short was 32,100 lots, down 3,462 lots.

Two people familiar with the matter told foreign media that OpenAI is racing to secure investor commitments for a roughly $30 bln funding round, aiming to close before rival Anthropic’s expected mid-November IPO. The expedited push is intended to lock in capital as both frontier AI firms compete for the same investor base and could lift OpenAI’s valuation above $1.4 tln. SoftBank Group, Abu Dhabi-based MGX and other existing investors are in talks to participate, and OpenAI is pitching recent revenue from a new model to attract support.
