China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on Oct. 20 launched
the first batch of 136 flagship application-scenario projects to steer scenario
development and open access. NDRC spokesman Li Chao said the projects have three
core tasks: verification — accelerate maturation and commercial deployment of
new technologies, products and business models; openness — enable diverse market
participants to share development opportunities; and demonstration — provide
templates for wider adoption. As an example, verification scenarios for
brain‑computer interfaces will span diagnosis, treatment, assistive and consumer
applications and will finance construction of a BCI data platform, pilot-scale
testing platform and scenario application centers to support firms' product
validation and market expansion.
