Carrefour cut full-year profit guidance and warned recent riots and looting in
France could reduce operating profit by up to €200m (≈$224m). The company said
higher costs and store disruptions from the unrest could trim operating profit
by €80m–€200m, the CFO said. Shares fell as much as ~15% intraday, on track for
Carrefour’s largest one-day drop and the worst performance on the CAC40 and
Stoxx Europe 600. With roughly half of sales in France, prolonged domestic
disruption would hit the group disproportionately. Analysts questioned whether
the downgrade signals issues extending beyond the French market.
