Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi told the Financial Times he submitted a
seven-day plan to the United States via intermediaries at last week’s UN General
Assembly outlining steps to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He said
the framework does not require the US to take any steps it has not already
agreed to, envisages the strait reopening on day six and the resumption of
negotiations on a final agreement on day seven. Araghchi said the conflict has
driven up energy prices and damaged US bases and equipment, and that Iran is
willing to try diplomacy again if it sees sincere US intent to achieve a just,
lasting end to the conflict.
