The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on the 21st it had arrested a German national who previously served in the Ukrainian armed forces. The FSB said the man served as a sniper in the Ukrainian military from 2016 to 2018. In November 2025 he returned to Ukraine and signed a three-year military service contract with the Ukrainian armed forces but fled after not receiving promised compensation. Russian authorities have opened criminal proceedings against him under relevant laws, the FSB said.
