Uganda’s Finance Ministry said on Thursday total goods exports rose 36% YoY in
August to $1.50bn from $1.10bn a year earlier, driven by higher receipts from
gold and other commodities. Gold exports totaled $889m in August, up 68.9% YoY.
The report said Uganda has become a regional gold processing and trade hub.
