South Korea's KOSPI fell 201.89 points, or 3.52%, to 5,533.77 on Thursday, its
lowest close since April 7, as chipmakers led losses amid profit-taking and
renewed skepticism over the global AI investment boom. The drop followed a 3.3%
rally on Wednesday, the index's biggest one-day gain in six weeks. A hawkish
Bank of Korea stance also reinforced expectations of further rate hikes.
Earnings from Meta and Tesla failed to deliver the same market lift as results
linked to SpaceX and SMCI, leaving chip stocks vulnerable to a pullback.
