Two government sources said on Thursday Tokyo is considering reintroducing gas
and electricity subsidies in December that expired in September to ease rising
household living costs. The measure could further worsen Japan's already
deteriorating fiscal position. Sources said the government may tap reserves set
aside in this fiscal-year budget and would consider a supplementary budget if
those reserves prove insufficient.
