QatarEnergy has signed with Cheniere Energy to purchase 4 million tonnes per
year of LNG through 2054, Qatar’s first long-term purchase agreement with a U.S.
supplier. The deal follows constraints on Qatar’s domestic production caused by
the war involving Iran; Qatar is seeking to supply customers whose deliveries
were disrupted by damage at Ras Laffan. Shipping via the Strait of Hormuz
remains volatile, and QatarEnergy has sharply reduced shipments.
