Several fund houses have begun liquidating QDII segregated-account products
after receiving notices earlier this year to rebalance QDII investment quota
between public funds and segregated accounts. Firms were told to reduce the
share of QDII quota used for segregated accounts to 20% or less by end-2027.
Industry participants say firms are accelerating transfers and wind-downs to
meet the requirement. Market participants warn that failure to compress
segregated-account quota to ≤20% may hinder approval of new QDII quota; a
Beijing fund-house product manager said his firm missed a recent allocation and
attributes it in part to unfinished quota reductions.
