At the start of the 2026 midterm cycle Republicans viewed the Senate map as an advantage, but momentum has shifted. With under two weeks until Election Day on Nov. 3, Trump is campaigning in South Carolina, Mississippi and other GOP strongholds as Republican groups pour money into deep-red states including Texas; party operatives have effectively abandoned contests in Georgia and North Carolina. Republicans say their Senate “red line” rests on Iowa, Ohio and Alaska — states Trump won by double digits two years ago — but polls and early voting show momentum tilting to Democrats.
