Pfizer said an experimental antibody‑drug conjugate, sigvotatug vedotin, failed to meet the primary endpoint in a trial of unresectable advanced lung cancer, showing no overall survival benefit versus chemotherapy. In a post‑hoc analysis presented at ESMO on Sunday, Pfizer reported that a subgroup of less‑heavily pretreated patients receiving the drug in combination showed survival more than two months longer than the chemotherapy control. Pfizer, which acquired the asset when it bought Seagen for $43 bln and had expected it to be a first‑in‑class product, said it will continue to pursue development and combination strategies.
