About 36% of S&P 500 constituents — 179 companies — will report quarterly
results this week, FactSet says. Key names include Amazon, Alphabet and
Microsoft, whose weightings have underpinned the index’s gains. Analysts still
expect S&P 500 constituents’ Q3 earnings to rise 29.5% YoY, according to
FactSet, but investors face headwinds from questions about the durability of
AI-driven flows, elevated gasoline prices and bond-market volatility; tolerance
for misses has narrowed and even companies that beat Wall Street estimates may
not be rewarded.
