Moody's Analytics senior economist John Bromhead said South Korea's economy
accelerated in Q3, with QoQ GDP up 1.0% versus the market's ~0.7% forecast. The
strong print reinforces the case for maintaining a restrictive policy stance,
particularly as price pressures have not convincingly eased; Bromhead expects
the Bank of Korea to raise rates in November. The BoK kept its policy rate at
3.0% in October after hikes in July and August. September headline CPI was 2.9%
YoY and core inflation 2.8% YoY, both above the BoK's 2% target.
