The UNCTAD- and Qatari government-hosted 9th World Investment Forum ran Oct.
25–27 in Doha. China's minister-level international trade negotiator and MOFCOM
vice minister Li Chenggang told a high-level session on reshaping global value
chains that the world recovery is weak, cross-border investment is sluggish, and
GVCs are becoming fragmented and politicized, marginalizing developing countries
amid a lack of coordinated investment policy. Li said China will pursue
multilateralism, push its Global Development and Global Governance initiatives,
promote value-chain cooperation and openness to boost resilience, and actively
support digital and green upgrading and developing-country integration into
GVCs.
