The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is working to increase the frequency of the market-tracked Commitments of Traders (COT) report to twice weekly by year-end. The COT, currently released on Fridays, breaks down positions between hedge funds/asset managers and commercial participants and is used by producers for hedging and by speculators to monitor position shifts and concentration. CFTC chairman Michael Selig said the change responds to demand from the agricultural sector at an agriculture futures conference in Kansas last week.
