Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun, at a routine briefing on Oct. 28,
responded to German Chancellor Merz’s Oct. 27 remarks in Singapore urging
countries to reduce unilateral dependence on China amid an EU–CPTPP
cross‑regional pact on trade, tech and security. Guo reiterated China’s
commitment to openness and cooperation, saying Beijing seeks to maintain stable,
secure global industrial and supply chains and to provide momentum and certainty
for the world economy. He stressed China‑Germany and China‑EU economic
complementarity and industrial interlinkage, and urged Germany and the EU to act
objectively and predictably, resolve differences through dialogue and jointly
safeguard supply‑chain stability to provide greater certainty for business
cooperation.
