The UK chancellor said in their first budget the annual tax-free cash ISA
allowance will remain at £20,000 (about $26,570), reversing a planned reduction.
Former chancellor Reeves had proposed cutting the cash ISA allowance for
under-65s to £12,000 from next year to channel savings into UK equities. The
decision is expected to be welcomed by consumer groups and banks; stable ISA
deposits should support mortgage funding for banks and building societies.
