Samsung SDI reported Q3 operating profit nearly doubled QoQ to 407.8 billion won (about $306m), its strongest quarter since 2023, and net profit beat expectations. The company attributed the upside to higher ESS sales driven by global AI data-center demand. It said it has secured more than 60 GWh of ESS battery orders in the U.S. this year, will accelerate production-line conversions to meet demand, and expects ESS market growth to continue into Q4. On EVs, Samsung SDI sees rising demand in Europe while U.S. demand remains weak for now.

UK plans to sell £250.6 billion of gilts in fiscal 2026-27; market had expected £249.2 billion.
